Pest control
– Application of effective pest management products to eradicate and
control a species, defined as a pest usually because it is believed to
be detrimental to a person's health, the ecology or the economy.
Pre-emergence herbicides--herbicides applied before weeds
emerge.
Post-emergence herbicides--herbicides applied after weeds
emerge, considered more environmentally sound than pre-emergence
herbicides because they have little or no soil residual activity.
Interestingly, pest control is at least as old as agriculture.
